The site of the martyrdom of the nuclear scientist Shaheed Moghimi was devastated in an almost unbelievable way following the recent attack by the Israeli regime—a bitter story of a night when the family had gathered, hoping to stay safe, unaware of the catastrophe lying in wait.

Shaheed Moghimi’s sister recounted the painful details of that night:

“It was the night of Eid al-Ghadir. I was at my own home, and my sister had come with her husband and children to our father’s house. Because an incident had occurred the night before near their home, they came to the paternal house for safety, to be away from her husband’s workplace and residence.

On Eid day, everyone had gone to my sister-in-law’s mother’s house for lunch; like every year, it was a family gathering. In the evening, I returned home, and my sister and her sister-in-law went back to my father’s house. Her husband had gone to work and was supposed to join them after finishing. They spent the Eid al-Ghadir dinner together.”

Her voice breaking, Shaheed Moghimi’s sister continued:

“At exactly 11:55 PM, we had not yet entered Sunday. I asked several neighbors, and they said they heard the explosion at that same time. Everyone in the house was awake. The last time I spoke with my mother was around 10 PM. Usually, if my sister and her children wanted to sleep, they would go upstairs, but that night everyone was still on the first floor… meaning they were awake when the tragedy struck.”

Published images from the site show extensive destruction—scenes that can only be described as a catastrophe. This attack once again revealed the depth of cruelty and inhumanity of the Israeli regime in targeting unarmed civilians.
